Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. She started her Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director, actors, and producers for most of her professional career. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over 100 Years. Two seasons ago, Ashford was the main character of CBS's hit series B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and grew up there.
